Welcome to my online platform where I share my journey as I walk through this earth, living, learning, advocating and impacting. an advocate for change. I’m Tuwilika Elias, an HIV & GBV Advocate, a Fulbright and YALI Alumni, a Deaton Scholar, and currently a Cookingham-Noll Fellow. My personal experiences with rape and HIV have given me a unique perspective on the world and have driven me to address the issues at their core.
I am deeply passionate about using education to challenge gender inequality and the barriers that perpetuate HIV and sexual violence against women and girls. Through my platform, I aim to address the issues of HIV and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) head-on, with a strong focus on education.
My primary goal is to ensure that young people from impoverished backgrounds and communities with a high prevalence of HIV and GBV are supported, empowered, and educated to break the cycle of poverty and inequality, which are some of the root causes of these problems.
As a public policy graduate, I aspire to influence structural and policy changes. I am building my professional career in women’s empowerment, policy-making, and international development so that I can contribute to the fight against inequality and poverty.
This platform aims to serve as a hub for education, advocacy, and community-building, focusing on HIV awareness, GBV prevention, and gender equality.
